Feng Shui And The Kitchen
The kitchen is the important part of the house. As the food is prepared here, it has a direct relationship with the overall health of the family members. Since ancient times, many people have followed the feng shui art and techniques to make the kitchen more conducive to facilitate a healthy and peaceful living.
There are various feng shui techniques and tips by which the kitchen can be arranged for this. Some of them are as follows –
It is important to use all the burners in the gas stove as also the electric cooker and micro ovens. Feng shui says that unused stoves doesn’t augur well for the proliferation of the chi energy, as they signify not using all the resources and opportunities to their full potentials.
The leftover foods should be disposed off instead of cramming them in the refrigerator. The stale food or the food in the refrigerator should also be eaten in shorter time. Allowing them to languish in the cupboard and freezer is not recommended in feng shui.
The malfunctioning parts of the cooking stove should be immediately repaired or replaced as it signifies economic constraint.
Feng shui and good nutrition go side by side. Hence, nutritious foods like fresh fruits, vegetable should be taken and junk food should be avoided to promote the propagation of the positive chi energy.
Feng shui recommends that you should be able to view the back of yours if there is a wall behind you. For this you should place a mirror on the opposite side of the wall. This would also reflect the fire in the stove and the cumulative effect would accentuate prosperity in the house as fire is supposed symbolise wealth.
As per feng shui, since wood catches fire, they complement each other. Hence, it is important to keep the pictures of wood and plant near the stove as both signifies prosperity.
According to feng shui, fire and water act in counter ways and their proximity in the house, breeds difference of opinion and ill feeling. Hence, the sink in the kitchen and the water should not be placed directly in front of the cooking stove.
If this cannot be avoided then, a green plant should be placed in between the two to negate the effect. For this reason, the bathroom should not be in front of the kitchen door. The refrigerator should also be kept away from the burning stove.
The feng shui recommends the placement of flower in the kitchen as it symbolise the chi energy. Hence, vases of flower and plants should be placed on the windowsills of the kitchen, but the dried flowers should be regularly cleaned from the vases, as they do not possess any energy.
Oranges could be placed in the kitchen as they symbolise good fortune. But care should be taken that they are be fresh. Above all the kitchen should be kept clutter free, clean. The crockery used should be washed properly to keep them shinning.
